If you follow us on Facebook (Abraham Yang Photography), you probably remember reading about these two. They met us at a bridal show earlier this year, and though we were way out of their budget, they still decided they should sit down with us to see if we couldn’t work out something that could fit within their budget. We met one evening at the ABC in Norcross, and seriously, it was as if we were sitting down with old friends (I’m pretty sure we talked until the place closed). Nilou is a portrait of the kind of bride we love: she highly values our work and recognizes that we’re worth what we’re asking, but she’s not afraid to sit us down and do a little bit of negotiating. Nilou and Jordan actually met in college, I believe. Jordan is originally from the Chicago area, which is how he met Nilou. If my memory serves me right, I believe they met while Nilou was in school there. Nilou is currently an optometrist, and Jordan works in insurance. Do you all believe that the perfect mate exists for every one of us? I do. My husband is not perfect, but he is perfect for me, and in the same way, Nilou and Jordan are perfect for each other. Where Nilou exudes a quiet grace and may seem a little more reserved, Jordan is outgoing and loquacious. While filming their engagement session, we had him talk nonsense just so we could check the sound, and I’m pretty sure he literally said something to the effect that he can talk about nothing forever. It’s true. We have proof. :) Anyway…two unique aspects about this shoot: 1) Jordan is obsessed with Jordans–the shoes. I forgot how many pairs he owns, but we thought it’d be neat to include this. And 2) Jordan rides a bike, and he loves it (to Nilou’s chagrin). Thus, we HAD to get a bike shot, and we’re even more excited about a really cool idea Abe has for a shot with the bike at their wedding this weekend!!! About the shoot: we started out the day at Piedmont Park and then headed back to Jordan’s condo to have them change so we could do a few more shots…and then it rained. And it poured. And we ended up having to cut the shoot short with plans to reschedule. We did manage to catch the sunset as the rain clouds dissipated, which is why Abe was able to get a few amazing shots with incredible lens flares. Kudos to this guy. He never ceases to amaze me with his abilities! Yup. He’s my husband. :)
We’ve never been around a couple that exuded more love and affection for each other than when we got to spend a day with these two: Caroline and Ruben. Originally from Seattle (Caroline is actually from Hawaii), the two relocated to Atlanta a few years ago for Ruben’s work (he’s an ER doctor currently finishing up his residency). Since Ruben finally popped the question over Christmas last year, the two decided to get on the wedding planning train by attending the PWG bridal show in February, which is actually where we met them. One promotion we run at bridal shows is a free engagement session raffle, which is why we got to do this session with Caroline and Ruben. They were the winners! Caroline was incredibly excited about the opportunity and about the chance to get Ruben out of scrubs! I think part of why they enjoyed this day so much is because of how little time they actually do get to spend together with Ruben’s crazy work schedule. Anyhow, through our exploration of the Atlanta Beltline, we found this gem of a park – Historic Old Fourth Ward Park. It has quickly become one of our all-time favorite locations. Especially with it being May, the little wildflower hill overlooking the splash pad was just incredibly beautiful and provided such stunning colors for photos. Then there’s the Freedom Parkway bridges and all that graffiti! And how about the whole Inman Park area? So awesome… Caroline & Ruben – we’re so excited for you guys and really do think you are an amazing couple. Best of luck with all of the wedding planning! We can’t wait to see photos from your Seattle wedding!
See and Kevin actually just celebrated their one-year anniversary a few days ago, so happy anniversary guys! We haven’t featured their wedding in a blog just yet since we seriously just recently figured out how to get on our blog site! Pathetic, huh? :P Anyhow…this wedding was certainly a portrait of elegance and grace characterized by incredible floral designs and the timeless beauty and elegance that both the hotel and restaurant offers. Though there were quite a few interesting tidbits about the wedding, for the most part, these two were as in love as two people could be. My favorite moment–witnessing Kevin well up while dancing for the first time with his bride. I’m sure I shed a few tears of my own watching that unfold! After the shortest ceremony in the history of mankind (or–in our experience), the guests moved into the restaurant bar for cocktail hour, which is then where the bridal party and the B&G were introduced. Dinner followed in the restaurant with dancing throughout the rest of the night. Before we called it a night, the Georgian Terrace’s hotel and fitness room is actually housed on the penthouse level, which basically means rooftop access. Woo! So, we had to get up there to do a few cool night shots with the Atlanta skyline providing an incredible backdrop. Congrats to the happy couple and their families! We met Kara and Christian at the very first bridal show we exhibited, and I’m telling you: there is no better validation of your work than the compliments you receive from those who are in the industry and those who are in the art industry! Kara and Christian were both students at Oglethorpe University, which is actually where they met and fell in love. Kara was an art major with a vested interest in Renaissance art, and Christian was studying film. Because of their connection to OU, we decided to shoot their engagement session on the gorgeous campus, which many have likened to something out of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry–particularly with its Gothic feel and stone architecture. In fact, one of the photos here was shot in front of a fireplace that has often been compared to that of the one in the House of Gryffindor. It really is quite beautiful, so we’ll admit that, on occasion, we’ve shamelessly snuck on to the campus for a couple of previous shoots! :) Anyhow, these two are such a fun couple, and we really enjoyed getting to know them and spending time with them! Their wedding was May 31st in Decatur–pictures will be coming soon (we’re in the final stages of sitting down with the couple to work on their wedding album now that we’ve completed their creative session)! In case you’re wondering about this last shot…I couldn’t not include it, as strange as it is. It tells a compelling story of these two in that Kara was the one who originally pursued Christian. :)
